#MeToo leader settles case after she is accused of harassment

Recent accusations of sexual assault against #MeToo movement leader, Asia Argento, came as a surprise to anyone who has been watching this important anti-sexual assault movement sweep the nation. Asia Argento, one of the most outspoken activists involved in the #MeToo movement, was accused of sexually assaulting a fellow actor when he was 17 years of age.

In response to the allegations, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says it will be investigating the claims of the young actor, who is currently 22 years of age. The actor alleged, in a legal notice of intent to sue, that Argento had sex with him in 2004 even though he was younger than the age of consent in California at the time.

According to the legal notice, the young man said that his sexual contact with Argento left him traumatized and damaged his career. Argento has since settled the matter with the actor for a total of $380,000.

The sheriff's department in LA County says that it will dig deeper to determine if sufficient grounds exist to pursue a criminal action against Argento. The court documents filed by the actor featured a selfie of him with Argento in bed. Three people have already come forward to confirm that the court documents are authentic and the actor's claims are accurate. A lawyer representing the actor told reporters that the actor "does not wish to comment on the documents or the events."

Argento, one of the most vocal activists within the #MeToo campaign, accused film producer Harvey Weinstein of raping her in 1997 when she was attending the Cannes Film Festival. She further alleged that she continued to engage in sexual activity with Weinstein because she didn't want to make him angry.

The #MeToo movement has brought vital topics into the forefront of American discourse, including the topic of employment-related sexual harassment and sexual assault. If you were victimized by any kind of employment-related sexual harassment or sexual assault, the attention these matters have recently received could make it easier for you to pursue justice.
