Women are also being accused of sexual harassment

It seems that every other day we hear about a new sexual misconduct or sexual harassment story involving a man. It seems like the media only wants to discuss the rude comments, unwanted physical touching and other misdeeds by men in this regard. However, when men and women alike listen to these news events, they tend to think back to various moments when they were mistreated in this fashion. In many cases, men can recall moments when female colleagues berated them, directed sexual comments at them or touched them physically.

One journalist from the Globe and Mail recently spoke to several men to find out what kind of experiences they've had in this regard. Four out of five of the men she spoke with had suffered from such abuse. One man said that a female colleague printed his photo, put it next to George Clooney's photo and inserted the message "Who is Hotter" and emailed the photo to everyone in his department. The man said it was both humiliating and flattering as his coworkers responded with their votes.

In another story collected by the journalist, a female superior would constantly slap him on the buttocks, saying that it was a game for she and her colleagues to do it as many times as possible. He said that work soon became an uncomfortable experience.

One of the biggest reasons we don't hear from men about the way they are getting sexually harassed cold be related to the way society expects them to be "manly" and just put up with it. However, if you are being victimized like this on the job -- regardless of whether you're a man or a woman -- the law is probably on your side. No one should ever have to put up with sexual harassment and all victims can speak up, put it to a stop and file a lawsuit if necessary to protect themselves.
