Producer Harvey Weinstein faces numerous sexual harassment accusations spanning decades

Sexual harassment can happen in any industry.

Film producer Harvey Weinstein has recently been accused of sexual harassment and unwanted physical touching by several women. The reported acts have occurred over the course of three decades.

He has already reached at least eight settlements with different women, including an actress, a model, and former assistants. He is not commenting on any of the settlements.

Various acts have been reported

Actress Ashley Judd reported that two decades ago, Weinstein invited her up to his hotel room. When she arrived, he greeter her wearing a bathrobe and asked her to give him a massage or watch him while he showered.

Other women have reported similar conduct. Some of acts reported involved Weinstein appearing nude before women, asking women to watch him shower, and repeatedly asking for massages.

Weinstein is known throughout the film industry for his temper. His treatment of women was often regarded as an extension of fiery personality.

In a statement made to the New York Times, Weinstein apologized for the way he has behaved with colleagues. He is taking a leave of absence to "deal with this issue head on". He stated "I cannot be more remorseful about the people I hurt and I plan on doing right by all of them."

No matter what industry, no matter who is initiating the sexual harassment, it can be an emotionally difficult thing for victims to come forward. However, it is important to remember the victims of workplace sexual harassment are protected by the law.
