What does discrimination at work look like?


Workplace discrimination is quite common. According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a total of 89,385 discrimination charges were filed in 2015.

Many victims of work discrimination have the same question: Is what I am experiencing considered discrimination?

It can be difficult to make that determination, and ultimately, every case is different.   • Retaliating against an employee for wearing religious clothing, such as a hijab

These are just a few examples of behavior that may constitute an employment discrimination claim.

It is important to remember that the law protects workers against discrimination at work. It is illegal for an employer to discriminate against an employee on the basis of age, race, sexual orientation, pregnancy, disability, association with a disabled relative or co-worker, medical condition, religion, or national origin.
