Wrongful termination claims in California

A wrongful termination can happen in a lot of different ways, but frequently the victim of wrongful termination never even knows that a violation took place. That's because, if a California employer wants to terminate a mother because she's pregnant, a father because he's a minority or a hard worker just because he's gay, the employer will usually try to come up with a different "excuse" for terminating the person.

Every Los Angeles employee has basic employment rights at his or her job. Those rights include the right to a discrimination-free workplace, fair compensation and more. Unfortunately, it isn't uncommon for employees to suffer a rights violation, so it's important for them to recognize a violation when it occurs.

University pays $1.15 million in sexual assault case

A woman has settled her 2015 claim of sexual assault with the University of California Santa Cruz. According to the claim, which the woman filed with the UCSC Regents in 2015, a USCS professor wooed her with wine and sexually assaulted her. The university has settled the claim for $1.15 million. However, in settling the matter, it hasn't admitted to any kind of negligence relating to the incident.
